Sector 2
In 1971 the Bangladesh Forces divided the occupied country into eleven sectors, each with its own sector commander, so that guerrilla operations inside Bangladesh could be organised from bases along the Indian border.
Sector 2 covered Comilla and Noakhali together with parts of Dhaka and Faridpur. It was commanded first by Major Khaled Mosharraf and later by Major A. T. M. Haider, with its headquarters at Melaghar in Tripura.
Sector 2 fighters raided the Dhaka–Chittagong road and the railway, attacked Pakistani positions along the border salients, and trained the young volunteers of the Dhaka urban guerrilla group known as the Crack Platoon.
